Axanthic is the lack of red pigment in colouration, similar to Anerythristic in corn snakes. It is a recessive gene, so must be present in the mother and father to have visual Axanthic offspring.

It makes the snake seem like it is a black and white photograph of a Wild Type or Normal coloured Royal Python, and works well as a combination with other colour and pattern mutations.

We are working with Axanthic as a gene carried by some of our animals, and only work with VPI strain axanthic. Some of the other strains are not compatible, so it is simpler to keep to one strain.
